I am taking part in the Microsoft Kilometres for Kids Challenge this February!
As part of my new year’s resolution to get and stay fit in 2022, I’ve set myself a personal challenge to complete some Kilometres for Kids! This is also a chance for me to raise much-needed funds to support children’s charities through the Chain Reaction Challenge Foundation.
The complications of the past few years have meant many charities struggled to raise enough funds to continue their programs, upgrade necessary facilities or purchase life-saving equipment. Chain Reaction ensures that they maximise every dollar raised so that their charity partners can continue the good work that they do.
Help encourage me to push through to reach my fitness and fundraising goals with a donation to this cause. The good habits I set here I plan to continue in 2022 and I want to leave behind a positive impact for myself and for kids in need.

My Updates

**FINAL UPDATE!!**
**Final update for my Kms for Kids**Wow, what a Feb! As many of you know, I joined Microsoft's Kms for Kids supported by Chain Reaction Challenge Foundation. I set a monthly kms goal to raise money to support children's charities. A big thank you to Christopher Turner for being a great team leader for the Australia STU team! We came first for highest donations - WOW!
My initial kms goal was 250kms and donation goal was $500. I exceeded $500 before the end of Feb, so I ambitiously increased my kms to 350kms and the donation goal to $750.
How did I end up?
- So humbled that I exceeded my donation goal of $750 by reaching $856! Again, thank you so much to the wonderful sponsors/donors for your amazing support!
- I exceeded my initial 250kms goal, and got close to my stretch target of 350kms. I got to 342.25kms!
- I came 5th out of 231 participants in walking!
- I came 11th out of 231 participants in donations!
I pushed my limits, walked indoors when it was raining, even went for some walks when it was raining. Joined a few walking tours/hikes and really tested myself.
What have I learnt?
- People are generous and incredibly supportive. I was so delighted at many friends, family and colleagues who reached out!
- Set a stretch goal! I never thought I would exceed 250kms, but the donations really inspired me, and the fact I got close to the crazy stretched target amazed me!
- You really need proper hiking boot if attempting hikes especially during wet weather, sneakers won't cut it :(
- You may feel tired, but you can find a second wind with the right mindset and knowing it's for a worthy cause
- Say yes and push yourself out of your comfort zone, it's rewarding and you will be amazed at what you can do if you push yourself

**THE FINAL FiNAL STRETCH**

I am proud and amazed that I am coming 5th in the walking ranks at 267kms, exceeding my original goal of 250kms. (I also have some kms of running). I have to do on average 19kms a day from now until Monday to hit my new goal of 350kms!
As a reminder, all funds raised in the Microsoft Kilometres for Kids Challenge will go to support children’s charities through the Chain Reaction Challenge Foundation, which includes paediatric medical equipment and ambulances, supported early learning centres for children with autism, supported capital projects for a children's hospice and much more.
I will dig deep and keep walking/running and provide final update once Feb concludes.

The final stretch!

In my last update, I stated that I was increasing my kms to 350kms for the month of Feb. With one week left to go, I need to do on average 17 kms per day!! With a rainy week forecast, it's not going to be easy - but will do my best! Picture of my current rainy gloomy view below.
I also have $150 left to go to hit my donations goal and be great if we can exceed this!

Increasing my $$ and kms goals!! Yikes!!

As of today I am at around 140kms out of a committed 250kms. I will increase my commitment to... 350kms! This is definitely pushing outside my comfort zone!! I guess I am walking non stop this weekend!
I am beyond HUMBLED by the generous donations/sponsorship towards the Kms for Kids. A huge thanks to everyone who has believed in me and sponsored me so far for this very important cause.
